There is a lot of misconception when it comes to skiing faster on the slopes. Many people think that in order to go faster, you need to ski harder and pick up more speed.

Today, while teaching the girls, I realized that this is not necessarily true!

In fact, in order to ski faster, you first need to learn how to control your speed better, and at some crucial times, you want to almost stand still before you accelerate again.

This means using our newly acquired slide and glide technique we introduced yesterday to slow down our speed right after taking turns in the steeper territory, so we can take the next turn!

Once the girls started to take smaller turns at slower speeds more often, they managed to speed up tremendously and reached the end of the slopes much faster [once again]!

“You can’t always go faster to reach your goals — sometimes you must slow down and find the right path.”
